What a BTX file contains
A BTX file is a Tool Chest export containing reusable markups. It can hold symbols, notes, callouts, measurements, or grouped tools. It does not by itself replace the project legend, drawing schedule, or estimating workflow.
BTX files and profiles are different
A toolset is a focused collection of reusable markups. A profile changes the wider Revu workspace, including visible panels and toolbars. Choose the narrowest file that solves the task so a simple symbol library does not unexpectedly alter a team workspace.
Import and inspect a BTX file
Use an extracted BTX file rather than its ZIP archive. Import it through Tool Chest, verify that it appears in the active profile, and place representative tools on a sample drawing. Check the Tool Chest Detail view and the Markups List for meaningful names and labels.
- 1Save the file in a known location.
- 2Extract an archive if necessary.
- 3Choose Tool Chest, Manage Tool Sets, then Import.
- 4Select the BTX file.
- 5Test representative markups before relying on the library.
Maintain a shareable library
Keep a change note, release name, licence record, and owner for shared files. Create a separate project set for client wording, temporary status labels, or job-specific rules. This keeps the reusable library useful across future projects.
FAQs
Can a BTX toolset contain measurements?
It can contain saved markup and measurement tools, but each measurement still needs the correct scale, scope, and review process.
Does importing a BTX file change my whole workspace?
A BTX file adds a Tool Chest set. A profile is the broader workspace file to review carefully.
