This is the real content of our free sample pack (10 tools). For full file upload with drag-and-drop, use the Validator tool, which runs the same parsing plus structural checks.

How it works

1

The .btx container is XML

A Bluebeam Tool Chest export is a plain XML document. The viewer reads the outer structure — the Tool Chest title, every ToolChestItem, its Name, Type and Resources — without needing Revu installed.

2

Tool payloads are compressed streams

Each tool carries hex-encoded, zlib-deflate compressed appearance streams (PDF XObjects) and measure dictionaries. The viewer shows you where they sit and how large each payload is.

3

Nothing leaves your browser

Parsing happens entirely client-side with the browser-native DecompressionStream API. Your file is never uploaded, stored or sent to a server.

Who uses this tool

Estimator reviewing a downloaded pack

Checking a purchased tool set before importing it

Before: Import blindly and hope the tools appear in the Tool Chest.

After: Open the file here first, see the tool count, types and structure, then import with confidence.

BIM manager auditing a team library

Documenting what the company tool set actually contains

Before: No easy answer to "what exactly is in our standard tool set?"

After: Read the full structure in the browser and record it in your library documentation.

Contractor learning BTX files

Understanding the Tool Chest file format

Before: The .btx format feels opaque — a binary blob from Revu.

After: See the readable XML structure and learn how tool sets are assembled.

Support agent helping a customer

Diagnosing why a file will not import

Before: Ask the customer to reinstall Revu and try again.

After: Have them open the file here — if the structure is broken, that shows in seconds.

Developer building tool set tooling

Understanding the format before writing scripts

Before: Reverse-engineer the format from scratch.

After: Read real structure and payload layout immediately, then use the JSON converter for scripted work.

QA reviewer signing off a pack

Verifying a delivered tool set matches its spec

Before: Import into Revu and manually check each tool.

After: Quickly verify tool count, naming pattern and types in the browser before opening Revu.
