The moment you need it
Rainfall or another event may have affected an excavation’s stability, or a new shift is starting. A competent person must inspect and record the condition before work proceeds.
Project boundary: UK HSE guidance states that excavations should be inspected at the start of each shift and after events affecting stability, with written reports following most inspections. Work must not proceed until safe.
Exact workbook structure
The delivered file contains two focused tabs: instructions for setup and a working record with one completed example plus 40 blank live rows.
Review the included instructions and project criteria before replacing the clearly labelled sample data.
Built for: Competent excavation inspectors, Groundworks contractors, Site managers, Principal-contractor safety teams.
Not for: Assessing an excavation without competence, designing temporary works, or allowing work to continue before defects are made safe.
