Free BTX Files for Bluebeam Revu — Download and Inspect Them
BTX files are the standard format for sharing Bluebeam Tool Chest contents. This page explains what BTX files contain, where to get them free, and how to inspect them before importing.
What Is Inside a BTX File?
A BTX file is an XML wrapper containing tool definitions. Each tool has a name, annotation type, resource list, and a hex-encoded PDF appearance stream compressed with zlib. The XML structure is readable, but the appearance streams require decompression to view.
Free Tools for Inspecting BTX Files
We built six free browser tools that read BTX files without Revu: a Viewer that shows the XML structure, a Validator that checks structural integrity, a Tool Extractor that lists every tool with CSV export, a JSON Converter, a Diff Checker for comparing two files, and an Inventory Report generator.
