Bluebeam Revu Compatibility Guide for BTX Tool Sets
Check Revu version, Windows support, BTX import behaviour and package contents before deploying a Tool Set to one user or a team.

In this guide:
Separate Import Compatibility From Product Support
A BTX file may import into an older Revu release even when that release is no longer supported by Bluebeam. Treat those as separate questions. Bluebeam states that Revu 2019 and earlier have reached end of life, while current Revu 21 system requirements focus on supported 64-bit Windows environments.
Run a Compatibility Check
Verify the actual workstation and workflow before a wider rollout:
- 1Record the exact Revu version and subscription plan used by the recipient.
- 2Check that the Windows version and hardware meet Bluebeam current requirements.
- 3Import the sample BTX and place tools using both representative drawing scales and page types.
- 4Confirm Tool Set names, Subjects, labels, colours and placement modes in the Tool Chest.
- 5Retain PNG and SVG source files as a documented fallback, not as proof that BTX import succeeded.
Test the Same Version You Intend to Deploy
Bluebeam recommends creating and validating profiles in the Revu version they target. Apply the same discipline to Tool Sets: test the approved BTX in the current production version, then record the result and any limitations before sharing it.
Plan for Older Revu Installations
Do not describe an end-of-life release as currently supported. If an older workstation must remain in use, test it separately, document the result as a local compatibility observation and keep an upgrade path. Bluebeam notes that registration for Revu 2019 and earlier may not be guaranteed.
Verify After Import
Successful file selection is not the final test. Place multiple tools, reopen Revu, inspect the Tool Chest, verify drawing and properties modes, and confirm that scale-sensitive markups behave correctly on a known drawing.
