Treat Each Discipline as a Reporting Category

Lighting, telecom, HVAC and plumbing markups often share the same drawing set but require different quantities, responsibilities and review decisions. Keep stable Subjects and discipline groupings so users can filter one trade without losing the combined coordination view.

Build the Four Workflows

Start with a small controlled structure for each discipline:

1. 1Lighting: separate luminaires, emergency lighting, switches, controls and circuit or zone notes.
2. 2Telecom: separate data outlets, wireless access points, racks, patching, routes and room identifiers.
3. 3HVAC: separate equipment, supply, return, extract, controls, routes and coordination clearances.
4. 4Plumbing: separate fixtures, pipework, valves, drainage, risers and service notes.
5. 5For every discipline, define Subject, label format, intended layer and review status before bulk placement.

Use the MEP Bundle Without Hiding Scope

A combined MEP package is useful for coordination, but the bundle name should not become the markup Subject. Keep discipline-specific Tool Sets or groups inside the package so schedules, quantity checks and ownership remain clear.

Coordinate Shared Routes and Spaces

Use layers and Markups List fields to identify ceiling zones, risers, plant rooms, containment and service crossings. Record assumptions rather than implying that a schematic route is an approved installation route. Escalate clashes and unresolved clearances through a visible review status.

Issue a Controlled Review

Confirm drawing revision and scale, review hidden layers, filter each discipline, compare representative quantities to the plan and export a summary with its scope stated. Archive the approved BTX version used for the review so future revisions can be reproduced.
