Bluebeam CCTV and Access Control Markup Workflow
Coordinate cameras, fields of view, doors, readers, contacts, routes and equipment schedules in one controlled Revu review workflow.

In this guide:
Separate Design Intent From Final Selection
Use early markups to show required coverage, device function and route intent without implying that every product or mounting detail is approved. Record design assumptions in Comments or custom columns and move items through a visible review status before they become installation information.
Set Up the Drawing Before Placing Devices
Prepare the review environment in a consistent order:
- 1Confirm the drawing revision, page scale and any viewport scales.
- 2Create or select controlled CCTV, Access Control and Cabling Tool Sets.
- 3Use stable Subjects for cameras, readers, contacts, locks, panels and routes.
- 4Define labels for device IDs that match the schedule convention.
- 5Set separate layers or statuses for proposed, reviewed, approved and existing devices when the project requires them.
Place Cameras With Coverage Evidence
Axis describes a Bluebeam workflow in which camera symbols and fields of view help teams visualise surveillance coverage during drawing design. Place the camera location, orient the coverage indicator and record mounting or scene assumptions. Treat a plan-view field of view as design evidence, not a replacement for lens, pixel-density, lighting and site-condition checks.
Build the Door Device Relationship
For each controlled opening, relate the reader, door contact, request-to-exit device, lock interface and nearby controller or panel. Use a shared door identifier in labels or custom columns so reviewers can filter all components for one opening. Avoid combining every device into one opaque symbol when separate quantities and responsibilities matter.
Coordinate Routes and Equipment Locations
Mark proposed cable routes, containment transitions, network or power dependencies and head-end locations with distinct Subjects. Use Comments for assumptions and Status for review decisions. Keep CCTV, access control and AV/data categories compatible so a combined low-voltage review can still be filtered by discipline.
Issue a Markups List Schedule
Use the Markups List to review device IDs, Subjects, pages, statuses, zones and comments. Filter intentionally, compare schedule rows with the plan and export the agreed summary format. The result supports coordination and estimating, but final quantities still require revision, duplicate and scope checks.
